About How2HOA

Nobody hands you a manual when you join the board.

How2HOA is the manual: plain-language guidance that helps volunteer board members understand their HOA and run it well.

Your first board meeting

A typical first agenda, and what you're expected to already understand:

Approve the annual budget

Make sense of the reserve study

Sign off on a vendor contract

Follow the governing documents

We explain each one in plain language

Our story

Why How2HOA Exists

Informed boards make better decisions, and better decisions make stronger communities.

Most HOA board members are volunteers. They are neighbors who raised a hand because they care about where they live.

Then the first meeting arrives. There is a budget to approve, a reserve study to make sense of, a vendor contract to sign and a stack of governing documents that read like they were written for someone else.

Good help is hard to find. Much of what is out there is written for attorneys and industry professionals, and it assumes you already know the vocabulary.

How2HOA started to close that gap. It began as a trusted resource where board members could learn how HOAs work and how to operate them better, and that is still the whole job.
